Cyber Park Kannur, Kozhikode & Kasaragod
Cyber Park, a Government of Kerala organization planned in the lines of Technopark at Thiruvananthapuram and Infopark in Kochi to build, operate and manage ITparks for the promotion and development of investment in IT and ITES industries in Malabar region of Kerala has been registered under the Societies Act 1860 on 28-01-09. Cyber Park is in the process of setting up IT parks at Kozhikode, at the SEZs approved at Kannur and Kasargode and may set up other such parks planned in future.
Presence of large number of Engineering colleges and other technical institutions to provide easy manpower resource will be an attraction for the growth of IT/ITES industries in the region. Now the destination is the development of IT/ITES industries in the region. 10.37.50 hectares of land in Re-survey no-310 of Eramom village,Taliparamba Taluk of Kannur district is already under possession.Master plan preparation to be initiated soon. The master plan for Kannur & Kasargod IT Parks will be prepared by Canon Design International, Mumbai.
Building to be ready for commercial launch by 2011
Project expected to create 30,000 direct jobs by 2015 Eco-friendly park to have a built-up area of 4 lakh sqft 
The Land Revenue Commissioner has approved the draft declaration for completing the land acquisition process for the proposed Cyber Park coming up at Nellikode. The foundation stone for the project will be laid this month.
“We expect to complete the acquisition of the balance land from the 43 acres notified for the park very soon,” BinuPazhoor, CEO, Cyber Park, said. Architectural consulting firm N.M. Salim and Associates has been awarded the master planning and detailed architectural consulting for the first information technology (IT) building in the proposed IT park. The 1.5-lakh sqft of the building, with a total built-up area of 4 lakh sqft, will be ready for commercial launch by early 2011. The project is expected to provide direct employment to 1,500 people in 2011 and the remaining space on the completion of the project will generate nearly 30,000 direct jobs by 2015. “We expect to start the construction work by July,” Ajay Kumar, Principal Secretary, Information Technology, said. The Cyber Park is the first eco-friendly IT park being developed as a hub-and-spoke model in the north Kerala region. SEZ status With the hub being built on 43 acres of land in Kozhikode, the spokes will be set up in Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The park will provide Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and non-SEZ space for clients serving the domestic and the international markets. The park will provide basic infrastructure such as a 110-kV substation, internal roads, rainwater harvesting, waste water recycling and eco-friendly waste management. Both national and international players are keen to start business here. “We are also looking into phase-II development plans in Kozhikode very soon,” he said. 
More initiatives
The IT department has many initiatives on the lines of the hub-and-spoke model of development. Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram; Infopark, Kochi; and Cyber Park, Kozhikode; will act as the hubs while satellite centres are being developed at Kollam, Ambalapuzha, Cherthala, Thrissur, Kannur and Kasaragod. The IT parks have an association with the Kerala State Information Technology Mission and Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd.  SEZ Advantages Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Units in India were set up to promote industrialization and economic growth through sustainable development. The main policy states that these SEZ units of India shall be offered tax rebates, fiscal incentives and lands at subsidized rates which being the key features of SEZ Units in India.
